Listen to Dr. Lee Oi Kum explain how her family business briefed the next generation before they entered the company. It is important that family members are briefed on all information, even information that is in the public domain, but is not necessarily discussed in the family domain.
We have also decided to slowly bring in the next gen. We haven’t done that yet, but what we have done is that twice a year, we bring them in and brief them what the company is doing or intends to do for the public listed company whereby the information is in the public domain but then our next gen is still not aware of all we have been pursuing because they didn’t believe that there is a relationship between the public listed and them. So even though there is information in the public domain, they are still not going after that. So I think that was interesting to understand that, hey, this is the family business but you know nothing about our public listed company? So we realized that too.
