Is Intrapreneurship More of a Stabilizing or Disruptive Force?
To me, innovation and intrapreneurship can be both a stabilization force within the family but also a disruptive initiative that can help open new opportunities to new markets. Be them frontier opportunities or totally new market opportunities out there. In our experience, giving space to channel the energy of younger generations within the family to look for areas of opportunity is something that can generate more balance and stabilization within families and depressurize some of these decisions that families need to take. But at the same time it could be disruptive because if the right incentives are in place and the right opportunities are being sought, the reality is that some of these disruptive ideas or exploration programs that they might be engaged with can render additional benefits or totally new businesses but some of them, and we need to be careful because it’s better to disrupt ourselves than be disrupted by other, so if they come up with a technology or a solution that helps disrupt our own industry it’ll be best to be kept inside the family.
