The Biggest Challenges in Working with Your Siblings
In this interview, a Next Gen talks about how the different personalities of siblings can result in a great team.
For me, that happened to be the difference in personalities. For me, I’m very Type A, while my brother’s very Type B and what that basically means is that I’m very outgoing and extroverted, while he’s more quiet and introverted. So this is done, it ends up being me that pushes more on the sales side while he ends up being more of the back end role in the business, which I think is actually the perfect, not always, but perfect role for those two types of personalities. The difficulty that you’re going to face though, is disagreements when it comes to how to progress with the business, because someone who is more Type B is a little more laid back, a little less stressed, and is less likely to take that step forward and take a risk for the business, while the Type A personality is always thinking of the next step. But together, you actually make a fantastic team, the Type B being able to say, wow, let’s step back, look at the situation before making a decision, where the Type A is motivated with that next step.
