Discovering Family Ownership is specifically designed for current and future family business owners. Family Ownership has proven to be the pillar of family businesses around the world. However, understanding the roles each family member play in successful ownership requires in-depth knowledge of what ownership means, how decision-making processes are made and mostly, how to approach different ownership models. The learning objectives are:

• Understanding the three-circle model and the seven categories of people in family enterprises
• Determining personal views on ownership through multiple self-diagnosis tests
• Understanding the dynamics and differences of owners and their roles in multi-generational ownership structures
• Identifying the roles and responsibilities and exploring emotional ownership
• Comprehending the impact of family and business values in decision-making within ownership groups

The key objectives are:

• Put the issue of ownership in context and illustrate the complexities of ownership transition through the generations
• Increase owners’ awareness of the importance of having clearly defined roles and responsibilities among the ownership group to avoid potential conflict
• Encourage owners to evaluate the values and vision that drive their business and look to the future in order to begin setting the course forward, onto the rising generation
• Present the options available for transitioning (or selling) ownership of the business and help decide which one is best for you
